Walmart established the Sourcing Division to closely work with and support all Walmart business divisions in the United States and International markets. We develop and maintain a fully integrated supply chain that provides critical support to our retail locations across the globe, with a customer-centric platform that connects all our global segments with products and solutions at the best value.
We help power Walmart’s ecosystem by making sourcing easier and seamless.
About the role
This position is responsible for driving the sourcing process to execute Merchant strategies for Home through building and maintaining supplier relationships.
What you´ll do
Develops and executes complex sourcing strategies aligned with merchants’ annual operating plans, integrating demand insights, seasonality, quality, perishability, and company growth initiatives (e.g., direct imports).
Serves as a subject-matter and industry expert for multiple commodities and items sourced from an assigned country, both in- and out-of-season. Oversees assigned sourcing programs at the item level, including seasonal and in-country regions and growing areas.
Oversees item‑ and country‑level sourcing programs, serving as a subject‑matter expert across commodities, driving product and packaging innovation, and supporting merchandise flow and replenishment decisions.
Evaluates, selects, and develops strategic vendors through decision matrices, cost negotiations, multi‑year contracts, and quarterly performance reviews, ensuring business continuity and compliance with financial, ethical, and sustainability standards.
Manages end‑to‑end cost governance, ensuring cost key accuracy, tracking awarded versus actual costs, understanding markup impacts, and proactively communicating cost changes to planners and merchants.
Leads execution of business plans and team development, removing operational barriers, managing projects, assessing initiative effectiveness, and fostering a culture of performance, continuous learning, belonging, and adherence to company policies and values.
What you´ll bring
6 years’ experience in merchandising, sourcing, planning, finance, or related area.
Supply Chain Management, Strategic Sourcing, Supplier Relationship Management, Negotiation Strategies, Cost Management knowledge
Deep knowledge of the sourcing process including various sourcing strategies
Business development mindset
Very strong analytic skills
Ability to develop peer relationships with key stakeholders and across global organizations.
Travel availability
Fluent English
