HSE Manager
Objective
Lead the Health, Safety, Environment, and Sustainability (HSE&S) performance to achieve the goal of Zero Harm (zero injuries, zero occupational illnesses, and zero environmental incidents) across all of our operations. Ensure the sustainability of regulatory compliance at all levels by implementing a proactive risk management system that minimizes exposure to employees, contractors, assets, and the environment. This will be achieved through the application of world-class engineering, administrative, and operational controls integrated into all business processes.
Main Responsibilities
· Design, develop, implement and manage health, safety and environmental corporative initiatives and strategies, including the design of policies and procedures.
· Constantly conduct safety audits, risk assessment and ensure that standards, policies and guidelines are followed by all departments, develop and implement corrective actions from lessons learned or current events.
· Design, establish and monitor safety performance indicators and continuously improve initiatives based on results and observations from team and areas activities.
· Coordinate and lead safety meetings, committees, awareness campaigns and audits (internal) to ensure that all governance is being followed and create HSE mindset for all our collaborators. Attend and support in all types of audits (internal, clients, regulatory, etc.)
· Ensure regulatory compliance with all federal, state and local regulations, as well as internal NEMAK company policies and programs. Lead HSE administration systems for plant (USO 14001, ISO 50001, ISO45001)
· Develop and conduct HSE campaigns, in collaboration with other teams to ensure the proper communication and understanding of guidelines and reduce/minimize risks associated with these initiatives (accidents, fatalities, etc.)
· Investigate and report safety incidents, accidents and near-miss events. Develop action plans to reduce reoccurrence of any accidents and near-misses.
· Develop and administrate emergency response procedures, nursery stations and design criteria of such areas.
· Manage relationships with external suppliers, agencies and contractors related to HSE functions, ensuring proper cost control and effective solutions and services.
· Stay up to date with changes in regulations and communication impacts and actions needed from other departments to comply to such policies. Provide consulting to other areas in HSE matters.
· Monitor and develop action plants for environmental topics involving the plant and offices. Own environmental compliance for the plant (waste/cradle-grave) in water waste, developing corresponding analysis and scorecards (such as gallons per casting, etc.)
· Lead plant HSE related Sustainability efforts and responses for information from customers and Global Staff.
Position Requirements
· Bachelor's degree in HSE Engineering or related field (Master's degree preferred).
· 6+ years of experience in Environmental and Occupational Health & Safety management.
· 5+ years leading HSE programs and ensuring labor safety compliance.
· Experience developing HSE strategies and driving continuous improvement initiatives.
· Automotive manufacturing experience preferred.
· CSP, CSHO, Risk Management, or similar certifications are a plus.
· Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
· Proficient English
