Position SummaryThe Accounting Analyst is responsible for supporting the Finance Department through the accurate processing, recording, analysis, and reconciliation of financial transactions. This role plays a key part in maintaining the integrity of financial records, supporting budgeting and reporting processes, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and contributing to the overall financial health of the organization.The Accounting Analyst will work closely with Finance, Human Resources, Operations, and Leadership Teams to provide timely and accurate financial information that supports decision-making.Key ResponsibilitiesAccounting Operations Record and maintain accurate accounting transactions in the financial system. Prepare and process journal entries. Perform monthly bank reconciliations. Reconcile balance sheet and income statement accounts. Monitor accounts payable and accounts receivable activities. Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes. Maintain organized and accurate financial records.Financial Analysis and Reporting Prepare financial reports and supporting schedules. Assist in the preparation of monthly management reports. Analyze variances and identify trends impacting financial performance. Support budgeting and forecasting activities. Assist with cash flow monitoring and reporting. Prepare financial data and reports requested by leadership.Payroll and Compliance Support Support payroll reconciliation and verification processes. Assist with statutory reporting requirements. Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards and regulations. Support audits by preparing schedules and documentation. Assist with tax, social security, and government reporting requirements.Internal Controls Maintain and support internal financial controls. Review transactions for accuracy and compliance. Identify discrepancies and assist in resolving accounting issues. Support continuous improvement initiatives within the Finance Department.Administrative Support Assist with vendor and supplier account reconciliations. Support contract and payment administration. Maintain confidential financial information. Collaborate with other departments to ensure accurate financial records.QualificationsEssential Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. Minimum of 2 years of accounting experience. Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting. Advanced Microsoft Excel skills. Experience with accounting software and ERP systems. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent attention to detail and organizational abilities. Ability to handle confidential information professionally.Desirable Experience in the education sector or nonprofit organizations. Knowledge of Panamanian tax and labor regulations. Experience with payroll processing and reconciliations.
